Happy Friday Parents!
We began our day today with Math, where we worked on our
adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers using mental math in the form of a game.
We then had our spelling test and all of the students did
really well!
Afterward we bound our friendship stories together in the
form of a book-I am very excited to send these home, I just need to assess them
first!
After Language, recess, lunch, and French, the students came
back and we worked on proper table setting as part of our UOI unit on manners.
We began by discussing proper table etiquette, and then we each got the chance
to “set the table” properly. This was very inquiry-based, the students used their
prior knowledge to try and set the table correctly. We then enjoyed a little
snack together as a class while demonstrating proper table manners, we
discussed different cultural traditions, and where our families come from
during this time while enjoying our snack. It was very interesting as a teacher
to have the students teach me all about their traditions they have at home for
eating!
We then had music and finished the day with reading buddies.
I am so proud of all of the students and their willingness to act as role
models for the younger students. They really enjoy this time with them and show
their maturity in this setting!
