Good afternoon and Happy Friday Parents!
We began our day today with math where we focussed on interpreting
bar graphs and pictographs.
Each student was provided with a pictograph and a
bar graph and worked in their table groups to come up with ideas as to what the
graphs were telling them. Tonight I am sending home some extra work with Venn
Diagrams, after checking the homework I found that the class needed more
practice to refine their skills sorting items into Venn Diagrams.
In language we read the next chapter of LHBW and then worked
on our instructional writing skills. In the novel Grandpa is making troughs for
tapping maple trees, in class we translated the description of Grandpa making
the troughs into instructions using bossy verbs. Bossy verbs are those that
tell someone to perform a task or do something for example, “go”, “lift”, “grab”,
“turn”. The class worked hard completing the instructions.
After lunch and recess the class worked on their UOI
brochures. Many of the students have finished and have begun practicing for their
informal presentations on Monday. Some students are still drawing the pictures
in each section of their brochures but most have finished with the writing
portion and they are looking great!
After French and second lunch and recess the class was
provided with more time to work on their brochures. We then had our spelling
test, and agendas. I decided to finish with a quick game of wax museum before
the weekend!
