Good Afternoon Parents!

Today was another exciting day in Grade 3! We began with Gym, and Music. In math we were working on addition strategies. The students did a wonderful job identifying the different ways to make adding number easier!

After French the class participated in the Ontario Writing Assessment pre-assessment. This is so that I can get an idea of where each student is at with their writing and tailor my teaching to meet each of their individual needs. Students then worked on their comma work quietly while their classmates finished.

In the final period of the day we began our Unit of Inquiry with a KWL chart. The students brainstormed what they knew about Manners and Safety, and then we used our inquiry skills to search through books and get an idea for what we would like to learn more about. Each student contributed to the “I Wonder” wall, where they posted something that they would like to know about Manners, Safety, and Friendship. For the rest of the period the class worked on cooperation games.
These were not only fun for the students but got them familiar with using communicative skills to work together, solve problems, and use their manners!

We didn’t have time to do agendas today! Your child will come home with an empty agenda today! We got so caught up in playing our cooperation games that we lost track of time and didn’t fill out agendas! The class does not have any formal homework tonight, only the spelling work that is due by Friday. I am so sorry about the agendas it was such a busy afternoon!

Some reminders for tomorrow:

-Please have your child keep working on the spelling work throughout the evenings (Lesson 1) when there is time. This needs to be completed by Friday in preparation for their spelling test.

-Tomorrow is the last day to submit BBQ forms and money. This is going to be such a great event, filled with food and fun! Don’t miss your chance to interact with the parents, staff and students!

-Please again have students come to school dressed in their gym uniforms, when they come to school they are to bring their Uniforms to the gym at put them in the change room. This has been working incredibly well!

Have a great night!
