Happy Friday Parents!

We had a great day in Grade 3! Two of our friends were away today at cross country-and we missed them very much! We also celebrated a birthday today! Jasmeet is turning 8 this weekend and to celebrate he received a birthday certificate and a goody bag!

In math we conducted our own surveys; we began by choosing a question we would like to ask and then asked everyone in the class and made a t-chart. We then turned our charts into bar graphs! Those that finished their bar graphs early were challenged to create a circle graph with their data as well!

We are almost finished our unit on data management and today I sent home a review with the students to prepare them for their test on Wednesday.
In language we began with our spelling test and then read the next chapter of Little House in the Big Woods. We are almost finished reading the book (one more chapter!) and the students really are enjoying reading the novel together as a class!

After lunch, recess, and French we continued with our Pioneers unit. Our friend Iqra researched pioneers at home and decided that she wanted to do a short presentation to the class on what the pioneers ate and wore. I gave her a special Action Star certificate after she presented what she had found! We then learned more about who the pioneers were, where they came from and what their journey to North America was like!

After second lunch, recess, and music we spent time organizing our IB binders. The students who are new to St. Jude’s were introduced to their own IB binders that will follow them throughout their years at SJA and be a wonderful keepsake to illustrate their progress as learners and individuals!
We then completed agendas before heading off to kiss and ride!

Important Reminders:
  • Math homework page 110-111
  • Math review due Tuesday
  • Levelled readers went home today: your child was provided with a reader based on their DRA level please have them read the story and answer the comprehension questions in the package in their Reading Comprehension notebook. Please do not write on the printed pages as I am trying to save paper! Levelled readers will go home every Friday and be due back on Mondays.
  • We are in charge of the bake sale next week! Please bring in a nut-free dessert on Tuesday (Oct 25th) that we can sell at the bake sale to help raise funds for important school materials to help benefit your child’s learning!
  • Picture Day is next week (Oct 27th), after care fees due next week along with November lunch forms, after school program sign ups, and book orders.

**Important Request**We are going to be doing an art project for our pioneers unit next week and we need small cartons (like the size of small milk cartons) if anybody has any small cartons that they can bring in for our project that would be very appreciated!

Thank you all for everything you do!
Have a wonderful weekend!
