Happy Thursday Parents!

We had a busy and exciting day in grade 3! We began with math where we focused on drawing shapes with a certain area or perimeter, then we worked on some review for our test on Tuesday. I have sent a review package home today to prepare students for the test Tuesday. I think that they are all ready and they seem to have a strong understanding of perimeter and area.

During our language time we had a very exciting event. We went with all of the grade 3's and 4's to see some items from the military and various wars brought in by a retired teacher to help the students understand more about Remembrance Day. The students were so inquisitive, they all showed how respectful they could be, asked really great questions, and explored different items. I am so proud of them for being on their best behaviour and for being so thankful to our visitor for the experience-they really learned a lot from this experience!

After recess, lunch, and french, we learned about pioneer schools during UOI we first discussed what we already know through our inquiry with the pioneer books, then we had a short reading that discussed the different aspects of school in pioneer times- again they all seemed very interested! We talked about discipline, school supplies, teachers, subjects, and so much more! The class worked so hard that we had time to play a pioneer school game: "Blind Man's Bluff"-where we had one student blindfolded and the other students were stationed in the classroom, the blindfolded student had to touch another student and guess who they were!

After second lunch and recess the students worked on MadLibs, they used their knowledge and understanding of nouns, verbs, and adjectives to make some amazing (and funny!) stories. We ended the day with gym before heading off to kiss and ride!
