Happy Tuesday Parents!

I hope you all enjoyed your extra-long weekend! We began our day today with our math test on measurement. All of the students worked very hard and demonstrated their exceptional knowledge and understanding of perimeter and area. I am so proud of all of their hard work!
For language we began working on our Science Fair project! We first watched a video on forces together as a class and then we discussed and brainstormed about forces and motion. The class began the project by completing the first stages of the scientific process in their Science Fair journals. We came up with our topic, asked really good inquiry questions and researched in books to understand more about the topic, and then we came up with a hypothesis together as a class. The class was very engaged and I am looking forward to conducting this experiement with them!

In UOI the students completed a “quest” on Pioneers to gage their understanding of pioneer life. I was able to mark the tests right away and it is clear that all of the students have an excellent understanding of pioneer life and are able to apply that knowledge in a meaningful way!

After second lunch we had a very special surprise! The class finally had enough points for a PARTY! We all enjoyed popcorn and pretzels while we watched an episode of The Magic School Bus on Motion and Forces. The class has worked so hard for this party and I felt it was time for their efforts both inside and outside of the classroom to be celebrated!

Important Reminders:
  • -Read 25 minutes
  • -Spelling work Lesson 10 due Friday: Spelling test Friday.
  • -Aftercare fees due

Summative Information: our students have all selected what they would like to do for their summative assignment on Pioneers, the topic that they are focussing on is: “A Day in the Life of A Pioneer”. They have chosen to do a poster, video, diary entry, diagram, or letter. Students have until tomorrow to change how they would like to present their topic. All of the work is done in class (with the exception of filming the video which will be done at home), students will be required to choose an individual (farmer, child, mother, etc.) and explain their life from that perspective. I am looking forward to the different projects they choose to do! We will have a rubric to guild students tomorrow!

Have a wonderful evening!
