Hello Parents andhappy Thursday (Friday!),
Today we began our day with a math test. I sent out an email
regarding a new math test being completed by the students on Tuesday. Please
see the email for more information. I am more than confident that all of the
students will be able to complete the new version of the test, however I have
sent along practice questions should you see it necessary.
In language we worked on LHBW we read chapter 3 of the novel,
this chapter was about making bullets and cleaning Pa’s gun. The students used their
knowledge about safety to recognize the dangers of guns and understand why Pa
had the girls learn how to take care of the gun safely. The students are really
enjoying the novel thus far!
In UOI the students began to organize their safety
information. Thank you so much for having the students prepared with plenty of
information for their brochures! They will continue to organize information in
the next couple of UOI periods. Students are very excited about what they are
learning and being really good inquirers!
At the end of the day we had time to complete a short thanksgiving
activity, we took fall leaves that were cut out of construction paper and wrote
one thing that we were thankful for. We finished the day by playing “wax museum”
after a day filled with tests I thought the students needed some fun!

Summative Information
There is a slight change the to the
summative format and a need for clarification, the students will be required to
do 4 types of safety: water safety, fire safety, bike safety, and community
safety (school safety). They can then add in a type of safety that they are
interested in (i.e., sport safety, car safety). Each type of safety will
represent a page on their safety brochure.
Uniform Change
As it is Thanksgiving weekend, come
Tuesday the students will be required to wear their winter uniforms. This means
that they will be wearing their long-sleeved polo along with their pants or
dresses.
