Happy Monday Parents!

We had a very eventful day here in Grade 3. We began the day with math; I have sent home a math review sheet for our upcoming test on Thursday. We started our math class today with a mini lesson based on the first question on the Review Part 2 page I have sent home. We spent a great deal of class time on this so the class should be able to do this at home without assistance. The second question on the last review page will be covered in class tomorrow. For the rest of the period we worked on subtraction strategies as it is a tricky concept, tomorrow we will be working on subtraction word problems.

After math we worked on Language. We began with spelling words, the spelling test this week will be on Thursday so please ensure the spelling work is completed and returned by Thursday. After spelling we had a lesson to introduce our new learning profile trait for the month of October-knowledgeable. We brainstormed what being knowledgeable means and then read a story about a woman who was very knowledgeable about her children. After reading the story the students demonstrated their understanding of being knowledgeable by writing about something they are knowledgeable about in their journals. They then discussed how being knowledgeable leads to independence. All of the students worked very hard in their journals.

After recess, lunch, and French, we worked on UOI. We began with brainstorming about Bike Safety. The class came up with some very important safety rules for riding their bikes! Next we learned proper hand signals for riding your bike when you are turning left or right or stopping. We played a fun game of Simon Says to demonstrate our learning of the hand signals. Afterward we worked on drawing a diagram of both a personal safely riding a bike and a person unsafely riding their bikes. The students had to write about each picture to show that they understand proper bike safety!
After second lunch and recess we had music and gym, we then came back to compelte agendas before kiss and ride.
