Happy Wednesday Parents!
Today we began our day with our math test! All of the
students worked incredibly hard and I think that all of their hard work,
studying, and review has paid off! The students were also challenged with a
bonus question!
In language we were introduced to similes, we started by
learning how to describe something using our senses. I brought in my magic bag
where students reached in with their eyes closed and chose am item. They described
it by what it felt like, smelled like, sounded like, and then what it looked like.
They used those adjectives to create comparisons using like and as. I am hoping
that students will use similes in their stories to make them even more
creative!
In UOI we were learning about pioneer homes, first we looked
through books at pictures of pioneer homes to inquire about what they looked
like and were built with. Then we read a small passage to learn about the
different kinds of pioneer homes. Tomorrow we will be building our own pioneer
homes- every student needs to bring in a small box (ideally the size of an
small milk carton) in order to build their house.
At the end of the day we had time to work on our descriptive
writing by writing a short story. We finished the day with gym and agendas.
