Happy Tuesday Parents!
We had another amazing day here in grade 3! We began our day
with math where students learned about calculating the area of an irregular
shape by counting squares on a grid paper. The students had the opportunity to
draw shapes and calculate the area of them. Early finishers moved on to drawing
their names in block letters and calculating the area of each letter! We are
surprisingly almost finished this unit-all of the students have been working
incredibly hard and they all seem to grasp each concept.
In language we worked on past-tense verbs. We began by
recalling what we did last night and then we found the pattern that many of our
past tense verbs end in “-ed”. We used our knowledge and understanding to play
“I have, Who Has” with different verbs to demonstrate our ability to change
verb tenses. The students had fun playing this game! We then moved on to
complete work in our writers books changing sentences from present tense to
past tense!
After recess, lunch, and French the students came back to
class for UOI. In UOI we used all that we have learned about pioneers to
complete a comparison chart comparing different topics between pioneers and
present day! The students came up with such wonderful things to compare including
school, toys, technology, health, and houses!
We ended the day with music and gym before agendas and kiss and
ride!
Here are our amazing pioneer poems!
