We had such and amazing day at Black Creek Pioneer Village yesterday! The pictures will be uploaded in another post, but first I will explain all of the fun activities we did!
Before heading off we completed our spelling test, then we all got onto the bus and were very excited for our day! When we got to Black Creek we had some time to walk around before our workshops began. We saw some amazing pioneer buildings including a barn with sheep and a cold room built underground where the pioneers would keep cold food items-like a freezer!
When we got to our workshop the group was split into the three classes for our activities. We began upstairs in an old pioneer home where we were shown how to comb through wool in order to prepare it for spinning and making clothes! We then moved onto our second activity which involved pioneer chores such as doing dishes and sweeping, we also made cookies and churned butter in a real butter churn! We also had the opportunity to hold a yolk (which pioneers would use to carry buckets of water), and we signed our names using ink and ink pens! For our final activity we went to a workshop and were introduced to a number of pioneer tools! The class circulated the room and were able to use all of the tools including drills, weaves to make clothes, and razors to carve wood! We then came together as a large group and ate our delicious treats we made!
We then rode the bus home and had just enough time to pack up before heading off to kiss and ride!
