Happy Monday Parents,
We had a fantastic Monday here in
Grade 3! After a quick math lesson on lines of symmetry we headed down to the
auditorium where some special guests from Earth Rangers were waiting! We watched
fantastic presentation on how to help save some of Canada’s wildlife. We also
had some special guests including a hawk, eagle, turtle, lemur, and many more! When
we came back to class we finished our lesson on symmetry. Students cut out
shapes and folded them to determine if they had horizontal, vertical, or
diagonal lines of symmetry.
After lunch and recess we came back to
class and spent some time writing an informative letter on a new topic.
Students are now explaining a game to a friend who has never played it before
by using details about the rules and routines of the game. Students are using
their knowledge of perspective in order to relate to how the reader is feeling.
For UOI we had an art lesson using our
knowledge of reflections and symmetry! We drew city skylines on a sheet of
paper in marker and then used water to reflect the image onto the bottom half
of the paper. They look fantastic and the kids loved seeing the reflections!
After second lunch and recess we
continued working on our city skylines, and then the class worked on their spelling
lesson for the week unit gym. After gym we completed agendas before heading off
to kiss and ride.
Action Stars:
Caitlyn was an action star over the weekend! She was an inquirer while learning about imports from other countries and she shared what she learned with the class today as part of our country/city unit!
Adn was open-minded when she wrote her name in braille after reading a book on Helen Keller!
Great Work Ladies!
