Happy Friday Parents!
Today has been such a fun day with the children!
We started out with a house game and played musical chairs.
I lost unfortunately! But I had many considerate students from our class reassure
me that I tried my best!
We then had music with Mr. Andrei, please if you have not
sent in your recorder forms; they need to be sent in as soon as possible. Even
if your child has a recorder the form must be submitted so that Mr. Andrei has
a correct count of who needs one.
We came back and after our pre-test yesterday I decided that
the students deserved some math games! We played addition bingo to refresh our
memory on addition facts! I have also sent home a “Math Inquiry Question” these
will be sent every Friday and returned on Monday. They are going to be used as a
way to have the children connect Math to the outside world with the hopes of turning
an abstract concept into a concrete one. I am very excited to see what the
students come up with!
For Language today we began our lessons on Capitalization.
We refreshed our memory by brainstorming when we use capitals and when we do
not. We then participated in capitalization game where each student was given a
word and asked to put either a capital or not based on what they thought was
proper.
After French we returned to class and finished working on
our goals for the year.
In UOI we continued to work on our Learner Profile posters,
the students were given new Attributes to brainstorm and create posters for
display in our classroom.
We finished the day with Agendas and some housekeeping
items!
Important Notes:
- - On Thursday September 15th at 4:00 pm
SJA staff would like to invite all students and their families to gather
together for some fun activities and to enjoy a tasty BBQ to kick off the new
school year! I have sent home a form with your child for dinner orders, this is
due by Wednesday September 14th.
- -On Monday please hand in Recorder Forms if you
have not yet
- -All parents need to submit the signed handbook
sheet (last page), please send this in on Monday with your child as well. (I
sent the handbook as an attachment in the welcome email)
- -Please again send your child wearing their gym
clothes on Monday, and have them bring their uniforms with them in a bag to the
gym in the morning before morning announcements. (We want to get as much gym
time as possible)
Homework:
- -Writers Book page 44-45, we worked on
Capitalization in class so they should be able to do this without assistance.
Please have them cursive write their responses.
- -Math Inquiry Question. Your child has been sent
home with an inquiry question in their agenda as mentioned before. This is not
required of them, but they will be awarded house points for their responses
(there are no wrong answers!-it is just to get them thinking).
It has been such a wonderful week back, I am truly so lucky
to have such a kind class.
