Happy Tuesday Parents!
We began our day today with reviewing some of the key
concepts from this math unit. Students worked on a review package that will be
sent home tonight as well, some are finished but they have been asked to go
over the questions again in preparation for their math test tomorrow. On their test
they will be required to interpret circle graphs and pictographs, sort items
into a Venn diagram, and draw a bar graph and pictograph. We have spent a lot of
time on doing all of these things in class in order to ensure the students are
prepared.
In language we focussed on story writing again, we began by
reading a descriptive story and then talked about what made it good. We
brainstormed some other ways to say “said” and went over good hooks and proper
beginning, middles, and ends. The class then had the opportunity to demonstrate
their most creative, best writing by writing about the day they found out they
could fly!
After lunch, recess, and French we continued with our UOI on
pioneers. We discussed the difference between the Aboriginal views of the land
versus the pioneer view of the land. We began by reading an Aboriginal story
(and Ms. Ross’ class joined us!), and then we brainstormed how the two views
are similar and how they are different. We used a Venn Diagram to sort our
ideas!
After second lunch and recess, we had music and gym,
afterward we had just enough time to come back and compete agendas before kiss
and ride!
