Hello Parents and Happy Thursday!
We had a fantastic day here in grade 3! We began with math
where we worked on reviewing key concepts related to fractions. We discussed
numerators and denominators, we also talked about sizes of different fractions
and compared smaller and larger fractions. We did fractions of a length,
fractions of a set, and fractions of shapes. We also spent some time talking
about mixed numbers and improper fractions. Each person has a review package to
complete as homework (if they finish this one I will provide another one
tomorrow to prepare over the weekend for their test on Monday).
In language, we learned about rebuttals in debates and
practiced by playing a game called rebuttal tennis. Students were at the front
of the room and given a topic to debate about, they practiced rebuttals and
counter-arguments. They had so much fun!
After recess, lunch, and French we had some time for our poem
presenters to practice in the auditorium. We then came back and the class was
given time to work in their groups on their debates for country vs. city.
After second lunch and recess we had music and gym before
completing agendas and heading off to kiss and ride.
Important Information:
- Math Review Package (if you finish tonight, and I will provide extra practice)
- Sign and Return permission form and bring in money for field trip as soon as possible (I know it is short notice!)
- Return Summative for Monday with topic and research.
- Spelling due tomorrow lesson 19
- Tomorrow is our poem presentations! Our class will present in the morning between 9:00 and 11:00 am in the auditorium.
Have a wonderful evening!
